Yet Another Google Pwnage

Google pwns me. srsly.

I started (re-started) using Reader. So, basically, I'll be on ur internetz, readin' ur blogz, unless you use privacy filters, then I'll only be on ur internetz, readin' ur blogz if you use LiveJournal and have me on your friends page (was so tempted to say "ur frendz page").

So, if you have a blog that is your main blog, and you think I might not be reading it, let me know, and I'll start eStalking you. Right quick.

As far as reading goes, I'm suffering through more Xanth (Yon Ill Wind). That and Faun & Games, and I'll have read every Piers Anthony book I inherited, and he will have effectively lost an unwilling reader. Yay. I think I'll have a party.

Also, if you're in Texas or Ohio, and planning on voting for Obama, I heard that he wants you to vote on April 1st, not March 4th. Okay? Okay.

This Crazy Weekend

This has been a crazy weekend. Also, the weather's been WONDERFUL.

On Friday, I got half my prize from the Space Westerns Limerick Contest. Still awaiting my Atomic Swindlers CD.

On Saturday, Amber and I drove up to Austin and went to the Elric: Stealer of Souls book signing. Pictures? Sure.

It was totally awesome. Also, the store was packed. Some people had really old first editions that they wanted to get signed. Others just had the book being released. Some people had heard of it weeks in advance, while others had only heard of it that morning. Most everyone there was from Austin, though there was a guy from Dallas. It was fun, even if it was a 3.5 hour drive.

Today, Amber and I went to the Houston Zoo. Before it opened, we walked around Hermann Park. Afterwards, we saw the Japanese garden, which was neat. I didn't see the Elephant Shrews while I was there, which kinda made me sad, as I think they're great. But, I did get to see the Fossa, sleeping. It was so cute.

Oh, and Eric, please try not to get jealous by what you're about to see:

Oh, and there's soon to be a Chipotle very, very much closer to us soon. Yay. No more driving to Pasadena for the burrito of the gods. That, and a World Market. Sweet.

What's Good for M&M Enterprises Is Good for the Country!

In one week, I will be going to [1] to see [2], to get some mad autographs in the newly release Elric book.

Yay!

OMG Pix!

Amber and I went to the Zoo a while back. Here are the pictures from that fateful day.

Also, I took some pictures around the apartment and elsewhere in Houston.

Auto-Comicing on the Gates of Blog

I wrote a Perl module. Well, I'm writing it.

It generates an SVG comic based on certain criteria. It's pure Perl, so it should work on any Perl-compliant OS. It also requires the SVG module.

http://jacob.silvia.googlepages.com/SVG-Comic-2008.02.12.zip

Let me know what you think. There's a README that tells you how to "install" it, and if you put it in the right place, you can RTFM by typing "perldoc SVG::Comic".

My module uses my amazingly intuitive versioning criteria, so don't be alarmed. It's an alpha, or a prototype, or something.

If there's any interest in developing this further, let me know. I'll start a Google Project, and then we can all work on it. Yay.

That's all.

dmoz Blues

I got my website listed on dmoz (http://dmoz.org).

Unfortunately, the description they gave my page was totally lame.

http://www.dmoz.org/Arts/Online_Writing/Fiction/Personal_Pages/S/

It's almost as if the reviewer didn't actually look at the page and make a valued judgment of the page.

"Stories and a few poems, available through links to Google.docs and deviantART."

(1) There are more poems than prose.

(2) The first section of the published works page features OTHER sites (not controlled by me) featuring my written word.

(3) The self-published stuff is not only featured on "Google.docs" (sic) and deviantART, but also on LiveJournal.

I have half a mind to (a) update the listing or (b) become an editor, but for the most part, the listing is ... more or less ... accurate (aside from 1, 2, and 3).

On a related note, if anyone's interested in DRM-free PDF copies of my completed NaNoWriMos, let me know. I'll whip up a phat LaTeX-encoded document for your reading pleasures.

I'll eventually associate a CC license to all of my self-published things. Yay.

An Example of Crossposting

An Example of Crossposting
In light of recent events surrounding certain blog providers, I decided to sign up for a Blogger. Also, I think Google pwnz me.

I'm not going to drop the LJ, but I will start crossposting betwixt the twain.

To, to clarify confusion, The LJ = "The Eventide Knave" and the Blogger = "The Gangster of L'Oeuf".

Once I figure out how to easily X-post to the MySpace, or any other blog I seem to discover I have. Any clues? I have ScribeFire, and the MySpace add-on, but I can't seem to figure it out. Were there TFM, I'd R it.

As far as reading goes, I'm working on the March 2008 issue of Fantasy & Science fiction, as well as Discover Biology, Second Edition, as well as Morning & Evening by Charles Spurgeon, as well as suffering through Roc and a Hard Place. Ugh.

As far as writing goes, I sent off two items this morning. I'll see how that goes.

I updated my website, adding some JavaScript to autogenerate menus, Favicon, Feed, and FOAF data. Yay. I'm still working on updating the FOAF, so if you're not in there, I probably just haven't gotten around to it yet.

I suppose that's all.
